WOW! Another fantastic entry to share, this time from another newbie :)

Holly Rogers - Engagement

Hello
Here is my February submission. Great challenge so I'm glad I finally got around to it. The paper I had for the heart was perfect and it was a great opportunity to put together an engagement layout. On my blog I actually include my crazy engagement story. The photo was taken during our pre-wedding engagement photo shoot and I love it. In my layout I have included a black background, a large heart and the word valentines, as it includes hidden journalling beneath the butterfly, which one part stating "You will always be my Valentine". Thanks for a great challenge. My blog is http://harmonydiy.blogspot.com/2011/02/2nd-layout-for-today-engagement.html where you can check out more details and read our engagement story. Thanks, Holly x

Hi Holly! What a delightful page...that heart is the best!!, I love how it has been sectioned off and the engagement ring pic takes pride of place. Great photo of you and your valentine. The black and white theme with a touch of color looks great! Adding your journaling under the butterfly was another great idea!
Great work!! Cheers Shazza

....another newbie has joined us this month :)

Kristal Barnwell - Be My Valentine

Hi there :D
One day of Blog hopping I came across your challenge site and just HAD to try it. And I LOVED it. I can't wait till the next challenge is up!! this is my take on the "valentine's Day" Challenge. I used a black background and the word "Valentine" and a big red heart. I made it simple and the heart is actually cut from the box of chocolates that came with the teddy gift in my photo, which my partner suprised me with on Valentines day :D Thank you for the inspiration xoxox Kristal

Hi Kristal!
Thanks for joining in our challenge this month, what a great little entry for your first. I love how you cut the heart from the box of chocolates to use on your page...great idea! and I also like that you have used photo's of the teddy bear. This is simple and sweet :) Well done!! - Cheers Shazza

Ooh! look at this next entry from....

Helene Bogren - Sweet Memories

Hi Shazza!

I couldn’t resist doing a layout for the one I love! This is a picture of my husband and daughter on a perfect winter day that we spent together outdoors. I wanted to catch a feeling of old love letters and roses – the traditional love gifts. I also wanted to add some paint. I used red mist and stamped with red paint and a toilet paper roll (is this the correct name in English?) which I bend to the shape of a heart. I choose not to have any title or journaling but the word Valentine is found on tree different stickers.
Cheers Helene

What a beautiful entry Helene :)  I just adore the heart with the lace edging...its beautiful. A lovely photo of your hubby and daughter. I love the red roses you added and all the little embellies you have used make this a gorgeous page. well done!
Cheers Shazza

Melissa O'Neill - You are Mummy's Valentine Everyday

Hi Shazza, really enjoyed the challenge this month as always, Nate is my only Valentine in my life except for my 2 fur boys. So it gave me a great opportunity to tell him. Love Melxx

Fantastic page Mel! I love your spray of flowers, and I love the layering of the pp's. What a great way to tell Nate he is your Valentine... I just love this page :) A great entry thanks! - Shazza

An entry today from......

Sarah Rogers - Smile

Dear Shazza,
I loved joining in last month so I have come back again this month.
Enjoyed this challenge very much. I used different pp strips to create a heart shape. Used the words in the song of funny valentine to get my valentine in. ( A bit of trivia, which 1980’s movie has Funny Valentine in it song by a famous actress).
The photo collage is of my husband over the past 19 years I have known him and all the funny faces he does make, they really do make me smile.
Thanks again
Sarah

Hi Sarah!
Love how you put all your strips together to form the large heart...what a great idea! I will try that technique next time..... It looks like your hubby is a funny guy!! ........love some of those faces :) He would definately make me smile too... Love your title with the little heart shape in the 'i' Great page and well done! - Cheers Shazza
P.S I wonder if any of the DT know the answer to your Trivia?  I wouldn't have a clue!

Come and Meet our Movie Extra for the Month....

Jenn Fawkes

Here is Jenn's bio........

Hi, I'm Jen Fawkes and I'd delighted to be asked to be the guest DT member for February.
My scrapping journey began in 2001 after a trip to Nepal/ Tibet and a need to do something 'different' with my photos. I then attended a CM party and discovered a whole world of color, paper embellishments and glue. I've never looked back, and barely a day goes by that I don't do something scrappy.
More recently I've tried to improve on my photography skills as well as move a bit into cardmaking. My inspiration comes from everywhere (family, nieces, great nieces and nephews, pets, travel, you name it) and I'm not really sure I have a style, just doing what feels right at the time. My motto for scrapbooking is: "Life is stressful, scrapbooking should not be". Good luck with all your entries for February.

Here are some of Jen's favourtie layouts....
So Many Questions

Your Laughter

You make me Laugh

I think my favourite layout is 'Your Laughter' - such a fantastic photo and love the musicnote, borders and dimension in theis stand out page....just gorgeous.
Could everyone make Jenn welcome this month at FS2S :)

Lucky Last submission from....

Shazza Bishop (me) - My Valentine

Hi Ladies!

This is my interpretation of the movie poster and criteria. I will take a better pic on a sunny day and replace this one as the colors are very mutted, and the pic is a bit crooked!
Did this one for my lovey 'Hasan' for Valentines day. Typical pic of Hasan scratching his head trying to think a problem through! lol
cheers
Shazza

Here is our first DT submission for February...

Debi Clark - My Funny Valentine

Hi Shazza,

Please find my LO for this fabulous inspirational movie poster for the 'love
month' of February. Great choice & fun to work on.

I have used a piccie of the beloved & I celebrating our 33rd wedding
anniversary & vow renewal ceremony, a couple of years ago.

I loved the criteria of using a black background, good old black cardstock,
the large heart - I painted this one, & I have used 'valentine' in my title.
I choose blue colours as I really love the combo of black, silver & blue.
In fact the patterned paper I have used is Christmas paper...I love it & use
it for all sorts of LO's...how versatile!

I bet we see some amazing LO's this month! Cant wait to see them all!

Cheers, Deb

Here is another inspirational submission from...

Jane Howden -Love

and

 Jane Howden - Outdoors

Hi Shazza,

I’m afraid I just couldn’t resist and I’ve done two layouts for February.  The first one doesn’t have all the extra criteria but I really love how it has turned out so thought I’d sent it in anyway.  The second is more in keeping with the criteria except I didn’t use Valentine (I tried but the longer word just didn’t look right on the layout).  I’ve also used a technique which is really handy for using up those little strips of patterned paper we all have clogging up our scrap spaces.  Cut out your shape from a piece of cardstock (in this case the heart) but this works really well on any other shape.  Add some form of adhesive to the card – you can use glue but be quick if you do before it dries out – I’ve used double sided tape across the shape at roughly 2cm intervals.  Then cut your patterned paper into strips of whatever width you like and layer them across your shape.  Cut off the excess paper to the actual shape once you have finished and hey presto.  It’s simple but very effective.

Jane

More inspiration from DTmember....

Dale Tiernan -Be My Valentine

Hi Shazza,
I've gone back to 1995 for a Valentine's photo for this layout. I've got the black background, the large heart and the word valentine. Paul bought me red roses that year, we were still engaged, married the following month. We went to a pink party to celebrate.
Kind regards,
Dale

This is cool......

Melissa Pablo - You are the Music in Me

hello miss shazza,
here is my take for Feb challenge. this is me and my eldest son, Justin, last Nov. i think i covered all the criteria needed- i have the large heart which i covered with musci sheet, i have the word "valentine" on the top right corner, and i have the black backgound.

hugs,
isay :D

Our next submission comes from DT member.....

Chantal Vandenberg - Funny Valentines

Hi there, Shazza!!
Well, I'm really pleased how this one turned out!  Here I've used the film poster of "Valentines Day" as inspiration for my layout.  I took my cues from multiple photo images, simplicity, and the theme!  I've used up some old pre-digi pics and by using a mostly monochromatic base, they actually look nice! :D  I've included all the criteria here; 1. Black background (albeit polka-dotted!); 2. Used the work "Valentine" (with a "s" added for substance lol); and 3. a large heart shape (hand-cut that baby out!) :D  Great challenge this month!!! :D :D :DCheers,
Chantal Vandenberg

Heres another sub from.....

Karen Williams - My Little Valentine

Hi shazza

Here is my Feb effort. I am a little disappointed with the photo- I always seem
to struggle with this colour pink getting a the right colour
Hope it is OK- I tried my best with the photo but I've had to wait two days for
some better weather- none came so I persevered anyway with LO on a bin bag
outside! if it is not good enough the weather forecast is better for Sunday!

Its called my little valentine- and I have a black background and a large heart
as well- I managed all the criteria this month LOL

Hope it's OK

Karen
