Hello ladies!  Here is my entry for the December challenge.  I have not done a scrap page for a while and this was perfect to get me started again.  This picture is of my three children and my two nieces.  They had a blast this past Halloween!  After this was taken we took them to a Carnival at a local park and they came home with tons of candy and lots of prizes.  Thanks for a great challenge and I hope you all have a great Christmas with your family and friends!

We have an entry from a newbie.....

Gina Baj - Our-Jack

Hi Shazza,
My name is Gina Baj and stumbled across your wonderful blog thru a friend. I love it. I have never submitted for anything, scrapbook wise. When I saw the December inspiration it just called out to me. I live in a small country town in Australia and halloween isn't celebrated much. This year was the first year I had ever seen pumpkins that could be carved. I love the idea of halloween and have had fun with my kids for about the last 7 years, but when I saw a pumpkin I just had to give it a go. We decided to carve a Jack Skellington face. My halloween photos were perfect for this challenge.
I have included all the items:
Pumpkins- in the photos and hanging from the tree.
Large moon- behind the photo and on the vintage halloween postcard.
Jack Skellington- in the photos, in the bottom right hand corner, and as a charm         hanging from the pin in the top right hand corner.
Spooky Tree- chipboard cut out that has been hand glittered.
Fence- another chipboard cutout that I have painted, embossed and wrapped a chain and lock(covered in Staz on ink- black)and cobweb, to represent a cemetery gate. Jack has the keys on his finger.
Yellow/Purple colours- all over
Large Swirl- under the hand made flowers, chipboard painted purple and cover in Ranger crackle paint, black soot.
I had sooo much fun with this challenge thanks for putting it out there. I really enjoying looking at everyone's creations and how from the same poster everyone comes up with unique ideas. Well done everyone!!! and Merry Christmas to all.
                             TTFN Gina

Hi Gina! I'm so glad you decided to join in the challenge this month...and what a great page you have submitted :) You did such a great job of carving your pumpkin. I love your layout, the spooky tree with the hanging pumpkin heads is awesome!! And love you little one eyed ghosty :) It looks like you have covered all the criteria aswell....Well done! Cheers Shazza

Another entry from.....

Deb Clark - It's only a Paper Moon

Hi Shazza,
I have to admit that when I saw this inpiration, 'The
Nightmare before Christmas', I was at an absolute loss!
I don't have any Halloween photos and kept wondering how
I could work on this...so it definitely was a challenge
for me!
I was at the shops and saw this pumpkin head on a paper
bag, and bought it for a markdown price of 50cents, and
then today have had a load of fun painting and cutting,
and gluing my twigs together, and drawing in my little
skeleton. I haven't used a photo but believe the LO has
turned out OK! Anyway it was a fun experience!
Thanks and cheers,
Deb

Hi Deb!
Glad you had a go at the challenge this month :)
Your pumpkin head is gorgeous and how lucky to find
him for only 50cents! Love your fence made from sticks
and great skeleton drawing :)Well done!
cheers

....And another entry today from....

Robin Jenkins - Happy Halloween

Hi Shazza!  Hope all is well with you.  I thought I'd join in on the fun at From Screen to Scrap this month!  I've done a digi LO of Temple and her best friend, Tatiana!  We live in different neighborhoods in the same Community, and Tati and Temple asked if they could trick-or-treat together!  So we went over to Tati's for a change of pace from our neighborhood this year.

I've covered a fence in the title, a swirl tree, pumpkins and purple and yellow background!  Thanks for a fun challenge!

Best regards,
Robin

Hi Robin! This bright digi page has turned out a treat! Love your Swirl and added lit up pumpkins. The girls look great in their costumes dressed up as Minnie Mouse and a Bumble Bee! Can see your fence behind the word 'Happy' and the crow sitting on the end of Halloween is a nice extra embellie. Well done - Shazza

Our First entry for the month from.......

Karen Williams -What's this?

Hi Shazza
I found this poster really hard to work with. I have
started two LOs wasted
three sheets of card and finally made this and even
then it doesn't have all the
criteria.
But it does have
1. a moon
2. a fence
3. yellow and purple
4. a black swirl
5. a tiny skeleton
The title is my from my favourite song in the movie
when Jack discovers
Christmas "What's this?"
Hope this is OK
Karen

Hi Karen! this has turned out great! So sorry you had
wasted three sheets of cardstock: but the end result
is like Wow!I love your little swirl and your fence
looks awesome. I love how your moon is behind the photo.
The edging punch you use looks great. What brand of
punch is that? Great take on the challenge!
Cheers Shazza

Here is Celina's interpretation of the movie poster....

Celina Matthews -Jack Obsessed

Hi, Shazza!
Here is my submission for December with the Nightmare Before Christmas movie poster inspiration. I love the Nightmare Before Christmas but my love for the movie does not compare to my eldest daughter's love for Jack Skellington, so I decided to focus my page on her obsession for Jack. Her bed had Jack sheets on it, she has numeruos t-shirts and hoodies of Jack, and she owns so many Jack odds and ends! Here are just of few photos of her and her Jack stuff. Here is how I completed the extra criteria:
1. Pumpkins - I used my cricut expression to cut out some fun little pumpkins with different faces.
2. Large moon - I cut a yellow circle out with my cricut and inked it with Scattered Straw and Mustard Seed Distress Inks.
3. Jack Skellington - I printed out a photo of Jack and cut him out.
4. Spooky tree - I cut out a spooky tree using my cricut in a gray and inked it with Black Soot Distress Ink.
5. Fence - I used my cricut to cut out these little fence pieces so that I connect them to make a long fence border.
6. Yellow/Purple colors - I used the purple cardstock to mat the photos and yellow cardstock for the moon.
7. Large Swirl - I free-handed the swirly mountain found on the poster out of gray cardstock and inked it with Dusty Concord Distress Ink.
I really had fun with this one. This topic was just my style! Can't wait to see what everyone else does with it!
~Celina

Celina!  Fantastic submission...wow!! Your daughter really does have an obsession for all things "Jack' I love how you managed all the criteria as well. I bet your daughter loves this page :) Great inspiration for our followers.  Excellent take on the challenge - Cheers Shazza

Finally....Our Guest DT for December is......

Celina Matthews

Hello, all. My name is Celina Matthews. I am 33 years old, a military spouse, stay-at-home-mom of three, and a college student working on a Master's degree in Business Administration. I have been scrapping for a bit more than a year and I can tell you it has quickly become a passion of mine. I scrap or think about scrapping all the time! I look at everything with a scrapper’s eye because you never know where inspiration will come from. I believe scrapping is therapeutic and a benefit to all. Scrapping is not just about recording your memories but about using and developing your creativity. My scrapping style is eclectic at the moment. I haven’t developed “my style” yet but I think it’s coming along beautifully. The styles that really call out to me are steampunk and the darker side of scrapping; including darker colors; a lot of distressing; and subjects like gothic, punk, and Halloween. These styles allow a lot of freedom, diversity, and creativity, and I suggest every scrapper give them a try.
I have been published in Stamping, Sationary, and Scrapbooking magazine (4th Quarter 2010) and am currently a design team member for Scraps of Darkness kit club.
My blog address is http://scrapvamp.blogspot.com

used are gorgeous and those cards look fantastic :)

Jane Howden -BOoooo!

Introducing our third new DT member........

Jane Howden

Here is Jane's bio.......

I'm a SAHM to two wonderful children (17 and 12) and live in Gosford on the Central Coast of NSW. I have been scrapbooking now for over six years, using a mix of traditional paper, digital and hybrid methods, mixing my pages equally amongst these styles. Scrapbooking is a very large part of my life and I participate in a number of forums and challenge sites both here in Australia and overseas. I also attend regular crop nights/days with a group of committed scrappers from my own community and participate in several retreats every year. I am always keen to learn new things and share what I know with others. I have a strong work ethic, am structured and organised and am enthusiastic in most everything I do.

For over two years (4/08 to 6/10) I was part of the support and teaching team at Get It Scrapped!, an online class and memory keeping site out of the US, where apart from overseeing classes, I was offering up my own monthly sketches and psd templates, organising the site's annual birthday celebrations, co-hosting several yearly blogging events, setting up and participating in online crops, issuing a series of monthly product and layout challenges as well as general participation and encouragement to members in the site forums. I gave up my involvement there at the end of June so I could concentrate more fully in recent months on my daughter who is currently undertaking the Higher School Certificate examinations for Year 12.

I have been published at Scrapscene and have recently been guest host for challenge #145 at How much is too much.

In 2011 I will be presenting a free monthly year long class on Scrap Beginnings called "Your place in the sun" which will be focusing on how we fit within our own community and neighbourhood.

Please visit my personal blog. I have a slide show embedded here which contains a selection of my layouts for you to view. I lean towards a clean, simple style where the pictures and journaling speak louder than the embellishments.

-Jane Howden

hello! my name is Melissa but you can call me isay (e-sai) . i live in Escondido, CA which is part of San Diego county. i am a full time nurse working on PM shift (love it less stress bcoz no bosses around LOL!) i am also a wife to a very supportive and understaing man, Robert, a mother to three beautiful blessings, Justin (11yo), Joseph (4ys), and my Jylian (21 mos). i started scrabooking 4 yrs ago when i was pregnant with my 2nd child. me and my bestfriend thought it would be nice to start something new and we really needed a stress- reliever because we were both about to take our licensing exam for nursing so scrapbooking was a great therapy! but i stopped scrapbooking because life got in the way- i started working as a nurse then got pregnant again with my third child and i just started scrapbooking again late last year and never stopped. this is still my stress-reliever beside my kids who are my HAPPY PILLS! my jokes are weird, i tend to tell jokes that are medically related LOL! i am a shy and quiet person but my husband tends to disagrees (i really don't know why?). my scrapbooking style varies, it really depends on the photos and papers that i'm going to use but i love to add lots of details, layerings, and movements on my LO's. i am currently one of the Mavens at SKETCHES IN THYME, my very first DT work and my blog link is http://isay-creativegenius.blogspot.com.

Hi Melissa (isay) I'm sure everyone will remember Melissa....... as she has entered quite a few challenges over the last couple of months here os FS2S and also on ARTastic. Here is Sandi's first submission.......

Sandi Robinson - Trick or Treat

How much fun was this?!! I used the poster quite literally for inspiration & featured my son Nathan in his skeleton costume at Halloween 2008. I did manage to include all seven 'extra criteria items'...Pumpkins...Large moon...Skeleton (the boy himself!)...Spooky Tree...Fence...Yellow/Purple...Large Swirl. - Sandi

WOW!!! Sandi...How great is your first submission :) You've done such a great job and it looks like you had fun putting this together because it has come up a treat! Boy!....and you manged to get everything on your page, Well done!! I love it!! - Shazza

Come meet our newest DT member......

Sandi Robinson

Here is Sandi's bio.....

Well... I'm 50 years of age, married for 24 years to my wonderfully patient hubby & Mum to two boys, aged 14 & 11 who all keep me on my toes!...I work on Sundays as a Beauty Consultant for Elizabeth Arden....I have definite OCD tendencies when it comes to things being kept tidy (I am constantly losing the battle being outnumbered 3-1 by messy menfolk!!) I have been 'crafty' since early childhood, knitting, dressmaking, toymaking, soft furnishings, cross-stitch, home decorating & photography are all in my repertoire, but it was when I discovered scrapbooking that I felt I had 'come home'!!! I think of my own style as eclectic...I find inspiration everywhere & am never without a camera to snap those little things that catch my eye! I love that there is no 'wrong' way to scrap & that however it's done it's real value is documenting memories for future generations to enjoy! The last two years have seen me go from being a solo scrapper to being part of the Global phenomena that is the internet!! How fabulous is it that we can 'meet' like minded friends whose paths we would otherwise never cross...not to mention sharing all the ideas & inspiration that's out there! - Sandi Robinson

To view more of Sandi's great work visit her blog - http://livinglifeoneblessingatatime.blogspot.com/

I met Sandi recently on another scrap booking community and instantly was in awe of her style and creative flair....her work really stood out, so I asked her to apply for one of the DT positions. I also asked our own Natalie Elphinstone to help me sort through the applications and like me, Natalie was instantly drawn to Sandi's gorgeous work......... Well I suppose the rest is history :)
- Shazza

So please give Sandi a big welcome

Here is mine.....

Shazza Bishop - The Monster under the Bed

I just used this pic from the internet because as a child I really did have a fear that something was lurking under my bed at night. It was horrible...... sometimes I would silently cry hoping that it would not grab me by the ankle and pull me under aswell. I used to do this flying leap into bed and my bedhead would bang against the wall and leave marks and gashes in the plaster. I used to pack boxes of books under my bed so the monster would not have much room , would feel squished and uncomfortable and find someone elses under bed space to move too. .....and of course I used to leave the bed side lamp on until morning. It wasnt until I was in my early teens that I think I grew out of this phobia...........but I still remember those nights when I was paralised by fear...... :(

Some great inspiration from......

Dale Tiernan - Halloween

Hi Shazza,

Here is my submission. It is entitled Halloween and shows the kids all dressed up ready to go trick or treating on the 31st of October 2010. I have managed to cover every criteria earning myself the 10 points. I've also managed to include 8 photos on one page. Quite happy with that.

Hi Dale! Great Halloween page, showcasing all those photos of the kids dressed up........
I especially love you spooky tree and all your goulish embellies :) Great work! - Cheers Shazza

Here is a great submission from ......

Chantal Vandenberg - Scary Fun

Hello Shazza,
Here's my take on this month's spooky poster and I had the best fun with this one!!! I've scrapped my daughter Lucy's first ever Ghost Train ride at the show last month and they were just perfect for this layout's theme! I've included ALL of the criteria here! I've done some hand made PUMPKINS, a massive LARGE MOON (using tape and book paper), I had drew my own JACK SKELETON, I created my own SPOOKY TREE, I punched a picket FENCE border (cheers Martha Stewart), I've definately used YELLOW / PURPLE COLOURS, and I've got a cloud of LARGE SWIRLs there using a cut up paper doillie. I've also managed to get the original tickets from the ride on there too - which Lucy is also holding in the pic! The tickets were way too cool to throw away! Thanks for the awesome inspiration! :D
Cheers,
Chantal Vandenberg

Great submission Chantal, Love all the background book pages and your Jack Skeleton is way cool! Great theme to scrap too.... Page looks awesome with so much going on...Great that you kept the ride tickets too -Well done!! - Cheers Shazza

I ended up going with a card, and have managed to incorporate 5 of the additional criteria (large moon, spooky tree, fence, yellow and purple, swirls) but couldn't help adding some cute little reindeer too!
xx

Marisa Page - My Nightmare Before Christmas

Hi Shazza,
I found this months poster very interesting to work with, it took me awhile
to come up with an idea of what to scrap. I decided to scrap about 'my
nightmare before Christmas'. I used the criteria of the purple/yellow colour
combo, fence and my swirls is the string. Looking forward to seing what
everyone creates with this months poster for inspiration.

Cheers,
Marisa
