Ta Daaaaah!! Ali's Submission for August
At last Ali's first submission for the August challenge at From Screen 2 Scrap can now be uploaded after she has had weeks of computer problems! It must have been so frustrating, getting a new DT poisition and being unable to participate, but alls good as we now have her gorgeous layout to share and give you all some added inspiration.
This is what Ali had to say: For this page I used the heart from the poster as my main inspiration. As my computer was down I was limited to the photos in my camera and I chose this one of me feeding the elephant at the Zoo. It was amazing to get so close to such an awesome animal. I thought the poster was quite dark so I used dark colours and used the red to brighten things up a bit! I distressed the edge of the black card with blue acrylic paint and I used Die Cuts with a View Chip Chatter Glitzy chipboard letters. You can't see it on the photo but they are glittered! A few red heart buttons and red ribbon to add a bit of colour and chip board brackets from a QVC kit.
Torn paper - I tore the heart shape out of patterned paper
zig zag - Ric-rac ribbon frame around photo
Single photo - yep!
Well Ali, it was really worth the wait :)
The photo is fantastic, it just gives you a glimpse of whats happening and I love the way the elephant is stretching out his trunk to reach the food! It would have been a great experience! Love your colors and the "Elephant ' word font really suits the theme of the layout. The other DT girls are really going to love this...... from Shazza

Scene Three, Take One
Yippee!! We have another gorgeous entry for this months challenge from ........
Joanne Powell - Marilyn
Joanne said, "This is my entry for from screen to scrap. I have stitched zig zags on to the netting and torn around my patterned paper. I have used the curtain folds in my netting and film strip and the hearts as my inspiration"
A little about myself... Im a mum to 4 beautiful children, living on the west coast of Tasmania. I have 2 fur babies as well, my beautiful kitties. I am a mild mannered librarian by day and a frantic scrapbooker by night! I have been scrapping for 3 years (before that I mucked about with Creative Memories, which I don't count) lol.
Well Joanne, its really gorgeous, I love your style, you have put heaps of work into this layout, and love the pic "Marilyn'....... snapped by the paparazzi I see!!
Cheers

The After Party and more........
Hi Ladies,
How are you all feeling this morning. I, myself are a bit weary, stayed up far tooo late partying on at the Red Carpet Premier afterparty. It was great rubbed shoulders with a few calebs, drank far too much, talked far to much (throat is a bit croaky this morning) but hey, I'm here and ready to put up the next Quiz.
Make sure you go shopping today and check out what Peta has in her on-line store...... Once I get over the afterparty blues, I'm definately going shopping at 'Scrapbooking from scratch' :)

.... and ladies guess who was buying me drinks all night, this strange looking man with red hair sticking out everywhere and wearing this huge top hat..............Funny though.... every time he went up to the bar, he brought me back a steaming hot cup of tea....... couldn't work that one out!!!
I think he had had too muny cups of tea cause during the course of the night he kept checking out the time on this huge fob watch and kept muttering something about...the queen, not being late, a white rabbit and Alice..... sorry!!! ..............no mans going to put one over this little black duck......So when he asked me to come back to his luxurios apartment at the end of the night for more Tea (what he thinks I'm stupid!!) I quietly declined and slipped out the back, down a rabbit burrow.............

Another Entry, this time from.........
Amanda, our sponsor and caleb for the month. Here is her take on the challenge:
***********
Amanda Lawrence - The Best Things
My layout is called “The Best Thing” and I have created it using papers from Graphic 45. I have taken inspiration from the colour scheme in the poster mainly but also from a few other things. I pleated some dark burgundy paper to give the look and feel of a velvet curtain and also used a paper doily to represent the half heart. I used paper tearing and rolling at the bottom of the photo and my zig zags are the black ric rac I have used in the corner. To finish it all off I have used lots of rich burgundy and gold embellishments to give the whole layout that velvety decadent feeling.
OMG Amanda it's divine, love all your embellishments, great pic, you have really gone to a lot of trouble and used quite a number of techniques... I am impressed!!!
Quiz #1 Name the Faces!
Our First Caleb Interview!! is with.........
Amanda Lawrence
I hear Amanda is playing 'Alice' in the new Tim Burton's take on the classic children's book Alice in Wonderland. The director is in the process of putting together an expensive, 3-D version of Lewis Carroll's famous novel. She gets to star (!) next to Johnny Depp who plays the Mad Hatter. Now thats ironical in itself as Amanda runs her own little group of Mad Hatters.......read onto get the latest news about Amanda.........
You can also view some of her latest layouts......
I am a SAHM to my darling little boy Cody, who just turned 2. I feel very fortunate to be able to stay home and care for him even though some days I think it would be far easier to have a full time job! I have been married to my husband, Derek for nearly 6 ½ years and even though sometimes he can really test the friendship I honestly can’t imagine my life without him. I live to create and it is the next most important thing in my life, it completes me as a person and without it I would be lost. I have tried everything from knitting, crochet, stitching, paper tole and quilting but found my true passion in scrapbooking about a year and a half ago. During this time I have been lucky enough to work on a few design teams but most recently have moved into teaching and inspiring others. I teach classes and design kits & sketches for my local scrap shop and I also run my own challenge blog called Out of the Hat.
My scrapbooking style at the moment is all about Shabby Chic and Vintage. My layouts are very dimensional and embellished and they just don’t feel truly complete until they are about an inch thick! Hehehe It has been my love of this style that has led me into my newest venture …. opening my own online store called D-lish Scraps. D-lish specializes in beautiful embellishment for your scrapbooking. It embraces the Shabby Chic style by offering a range of gorgeous 3D flowers, trims, doilies, mesh and leaves at a very affordable price. Most packs are under the $2 mark with starting prices as little as 65 cents! We offer a lot rate shipping fee of only $3 to anywhere in Australia to keep that affordable too.
I also keep a personal blog at My Lil Patch of the Planet, so if you are interested in seeing some more of my work or just to have a sticky then feel free to pop on over.
My fave movie of all time would have to be Pretty Woman ….. I love a good fairytale and it just goes to show that there is something out there for everyone.
The last movie I saw at the cinema would have been Harry Potter 3!! I know, I know, I lead a tragic existence but if you are reading this at about lunch time on Saturday then I will be feet up in the Gold Class cinemas seeing Harry Potter 6! (Does that make it 4yrs since I’ve been to the movies?? …. eep!!) I am sure there is a lot of yummy (and overpriced) food in Gold Class but a movie just wouldn’t be the same without popcorn and frozen coke now would it!! I haven’t hired a movie in donkeys … or is that since I have been banned from every video store in a 10 mile radius?? I was always very good at getting them but not so good at returning them … apparently they don’t like that!! We have Foxtel and Box Office movies at home so some times I can watch a few of those, the last being “Because I Said So” with Mandy Moore and “27 Dresses” both great chic flicks and highly recommended!!
I was so honored at being asked to Guest DT here by Shazza and had so much fun creating my layout. I really hope you can all find the time to join in as a truly believe that Screen 2 Scrap is a fantastic concept!
Here are some of Amanda's amazing layouts.....
Titled - Aunty Val
Titled - Cute
Titled - Mum and her girls
Titled - Beauty
Thanks Amanda for showcasing only some of your beautiful work.
